Log churches were built in the period from the 15th to the beginning of the 20th century, during the Turkish occupation. They were built in secluded places during the time of the Ottoman Empire in these areas. The main reason for the construction of wooden churches was the speed and simplicity of construction and easily available materials that easily fit into the environment and was a kind of camouflage. One of the most beautiful examples is the Log Church dedicated to the Ascension of Christ in the village of Dub on the territory of Bajina Bašta, in the Zlatibor district. It is believed to have been built in 1792 and renovated in 1828. It was built on the foundations of an older church.
