Montenegro has seen a steady increase in tourist traffic and revenues from tourism in recent years, and revenues of nearly 1 billion euros are expected this year, announced Director of the Montenegrin National Tourist Organization Željka Radak-Kukavičić.
“The trend of traffic growth is expected to continue in this tourist year, and that there will be more visitors and overnight stays than last year when Montenegro visited about 1.8 million tourists, six percent more than in 2015”, said Director.
Last year, about 11.25 million overnight stays were registered, which is 1.76 percent more than in 2015.
“Regarding the financial effects, I recall that according to the Central Bank / CBCG data, last year revenues from foreign tourist turnover amounted to about 870 million euros, and we expect this year to be overcome and we will come close to the figure of one billion euro”, she said.
It is interesting to note that, despite the bad political relations between Montenegro and Russia, during the first four months, there were about 5,850 tourists from Russia in the hotels in Montenegro, which is about 24 percent more than in the same period last year.
