Budva Carnival
Budva Carnival
The Budva Carnival is one of the most vibrant and beloved events in Montenegro. Every year in early May, Budva turns into a true festival city, where the streets fill with music, costumes, and a joyful atmosphere.
A special atmosphere is created by a tradition called Abrum — a kind of invitation to the carnival that starts in Petrovac and passes through coastal towns all the way to Budva. The procession itself is colorful and loud, featuring performers, dancers, and guests in vibrant masks.
The highlight is the parade through the Old Town, where locals traditionally offer treats to the participants: some step out into the street with snacks, while others even lower sweets from their windows on strings.
During the carnival, there are parades for both adults and children, musical performances, and open-air dancing. All of this makes the Budva Carnival a true symbol of spring awakening and the start of the tourist season in Montenegro.
