If you’ve ever wondered whether paradise exists on Earth, know that it does — and it’s Montenegro. This small but incredibly beautiful country in the southwest Balkans combines sea and mountains, sun and snow, ancient history and a modern lifestyle.

The total area of Montenegro is only 13,812 km², including 2,504 km² of territorial waters. It is the youngest country in Europe, having become an independent state on June 21, 2006, following a referendum in which the people chose the path of independence. According to the latest population census (December 2023), the country has 623,633 inhabitants.

Podgorica is the capital and largest city of the country. Cetinje is the old royal capital. While most of the territory is mountainous, plains appear further south, and the Adriatic coastline stretches for 293 km, known for its clean, warm waters and numerous beaches. Yacht and boat trips, diving, and swimming in turquoise waters are all popular activities here.

Nature of Montenegro
In the north of the country, you’ll find national parks, glacial lakes, mountain rivers, dense forests, and breathtaking caves. Montenegro has a total of five national parks — true natural gems.

Gastronomy and Hospitality
Montenegrin cuisine is a source of national pride. In the north, try Njeguši prosciutto, sheep cheese, kajmak, kačamak, lamb, and priganice. In the south — fresh seafood: oysters, mussels, squid, and fish, seasoned with fragrant local olive oil.

Culture and Entertainment
Ancient towns, rich history, romantic villages, and panoramic views of the Bay of Kotor and Italy. Modern marinas for superyachts, preserved traditions in mountain villages, paragliding, and a train ride across the entire country — everything is here.

Montenegro is a country you’ll easily fall in love with. Welcome!
